Speaking
Nathan Fa’avae’s presentations have a wide appeal. He is a former professional athlete and a highly qualified outdoor instructor who has worked extensively with a wide and diverse range of people – from Youth at Risk to Global Corporations.
Nathan does not set limits in life, a lesson learned from competing at the highest level of adventure racing – possibly the world’s toughest sport. Adventure Racing is where sport meets expedition.

It pits teams against each other and nature’s elements in extreme adventure sport competitions that last up to a week.
It is a sport that takes athletes to their very limits … and then asks for more.
Nathan was captain of the highly successful New Zealand team for 4 years and retired in 2005 after a convincing win at the World Championships.

His presentations draw parallels between sport and business, teamwork and leadership and are spiced with entertaining tales from the exotic countries he has raced in around the world – along the Great Wall of China, deep in the Amazon Basin, high in the Swiss Alps, the dusty plains of Tibet to the pureness of Arctic circle - to name a few.

He speaks about peak performance and mental toughness, what it takes to succeed at the highest level of sport and how those same attributes and skills can be transferred into every area of ones life – work, health, family and recreation.
With vision, confidence and commitment, Nathan believes people can often extend themselves well beyond what they think their capabilities are. His personal examples of this are over coming a mis-spent teenage youth to forming and founding a small tourism business that won a NZ Business award in its first year, building his own luxury home, helping deliver his three children at home and bouncing back from two heart surgeries to represent NZ in 3 different sports.

Also a former Outward Bound instructor, Nathan has a passion and many skills in team and personal development. He is an Ambassador for Outward Bound.

Nathan currently works for SPARC on a high performance youth programme, is Director of property development company Beech Adventures and owns his own Sports Events Company – Ten Events.
He is a very relaxed and confident speaker.
He is a member of Toastmasters International and has completed a speaking and media training course with top US Speaker Trainers - Virgil Scudder & Associates, New York.
